Microsoft AI: Magellan Partners joins forces with Microsoft to make France the nation of Artificial Intelligence!
Press Releases
09 April 2019
During the summit on artificial intelligence, “AI for Humanity”, Emmanuel Macron presented the French strategy for Artificial Intelligence. Microsoft is committed to promoting the development of trusted AI in France. It unveiled a $30 million investment plan over 3 years, known as Microsoft AI. Magellan Partners is part of this collective’s initiative, alongside the largest French companies and major Microsoft partners, to help make France the nation of Artificial Intelligence.
Microsoft AI, two flagship measures announced!
The creation of Impact IA
This collective brings together numerous companies, start-ups and Microsoft partners, including Magellan Partners. The aim is to rise to the ethical and societal challenges of AI by reflecting on topics that shape the daily lives of French people (health, transportation, energy, and so on). In addition, this collective will support innovative projects in these fields in order to positively influence the world of tomorrow.
The launch of Compétences IA
After the recent inauguration of the Microsoft AI School, the launch of this national program aims to develop digital skills around AI, Cloud and coding for all – young people, students, developers, IT professionals, and the long-term unemployed. The 3-year objective is to raise awareness and train 400,000 people, all profiles combined, with the creation of 3,000 new jobs.
Collective mobilization for an AI serving the general interest
Under the impetus of Microsoft, the Impact IA collective is set to mobilize the entire digital ecosystem of French companies and organizations to achieve two aims:
- Stimulate the development of trusted AI through reflections and concrete proposals. The collective will also support the development and sharing of tools that promote and monitor the responsible use of AI. It will also publish an annual report on the impact of AI in France. Lastly, it will issue recommendations to the public authorities.
- Identify and support the completion of innovative projects designed to respond to major societal issues and the general interest. These projects will benefit from technological and financial support from members of Impact IA, and will be fully aligned with Microsoft’s commitments such as AI For Earth.
Why is Magellan joining the Impact IA collective?
For the past 18 years, we have been working with Microsoft via our Exakis Nelite subsidiary. This historic partnership as a solutions integrator makes our membership of the Microsoft AI program a natural fit.
Didier Zeitoun - Chairman of the Magellan Partners Group
“Our group, Magellan Partners, shares Microsoft’s analysis regarding the potential offered by Artificial Intelligence and Data Science in the short, medium, and long term. It echoes our reflection on the use of technology to serve customers and citizens. Though AI raises legitimate questions, we are convinced that, in addition to being inevitable, it presents immense opportunities to improve how organizations function, and to make a positive contribution to our society, particularly in the fields of education and health.” Didier Zeitoun went on.
The importance of acting to promote responsible AI:
“Faced with the legitimate concerns raised by these impacts, as digital players, we must all work to maintain a sense of responsibility. Here at Magellan Partners, we believe that the value of technology comes from the service it provides to humans.”
Our interest in working to ensure that AI digital skills continue to flourish in France.
“As a stakeholder, we are firmly rooted in France and our development depends on the skills of our employees throughout our country. That is why we invest in internal training programs or hire from the Microsoft AI School.” concluded Didier Zeitoun.
